Illustration Friday – Cats

In the grasp, but the joke’s on him.

It's how I want it.
It is the way of our kind.

Let them think THEY are in control.

That purring is not the song of contenment,

But a silent snicker
That even I cannot control.

I do admire his whiskers so.

This is the first watercolor I ever attempted. I do hate publishing illustrations at hand, but I recently got swamped at work and it’s all I can do to keep up with what I have going. I have plans for quite a number of cats painting in the near future. When they are finished, I shall post them here.

I agree - Beautiful work!
Seems to me very difficult to paint a black cat that does not look like an ugly black stain! - and you reach that very well - a pretty black cat.
Yes, very good!

I really like this - great words. Something about the salty old guy with his cat is touching indeed. Not bad for a first time watercolor attempt!

Awh, you have captured so much in this painting. The old man and the cat, the colours and the poem- delightful and full of warmth. I love it.

Thank you all for the kind words. I did write the words fior this picture just for Illustration Friday (for you all!) so I wasn't totally digging up the old work.
